BOUTIQUE DE DANSE / 2008

Bild 4

A project by: Ambra Pittoni – collaboration work

Boutique de Danse is an happening aiming to play around the relation between dance and economy, starting from the simple question : How much does a piece of dance cost ? What is then the economic value of a dance piece? Can a moment have a price ? And how do the performers connect their work to money, payment and the market ?

FLOOR OF THE FOREST / 2007

Trisha Brown_Floor of the forest-web

Choreography: Trisha Brown
Costume: Shorts and tank tops

Floor of the forest is performed in a twelve-foot by fourteen-foot pipe frame across which are tied ropes densely threaded with clothes – sleeves are woven beneath pant legs forming a solid rectangular surface. The audience is free to move around in the periphery of the grid as the performers dress and undress their way through this structure. A normally vertical activity performed horizontally and reshaped by the vertical pull of gravity.

ACCUMULATION / 2007

Bild 2

Choreography: Trisha Brown
Music: “Uncle John’s Band,” The Grateful Dead.

Accumulation is based on the simple device of adding one gesture to another, one at a time, and repeating the growing phrase with each new movement. Although it is not the performer’s intention to portray anyone or anything else, the dance is full of personal expression as the dancers respond to the physical action of the piece and to the audience.

“Every room has a door. Most doors have a lock. And every lock needs a key. People built walls, rooms, cities…more doors, more locks – millions of keys. I don’t know how many doors I have opened to meet you. Maybe I have lost a key? Open a door to close…I wonder am I you  – inside or outside?” cokaseki

Dance: Katrin Geller, Mayumi Fukuzaki, Teresa Mayer, Angela Vadori
